Innovative : Surgeons Using iPad For Complicated Surgical Operations
Surgeons in Bremen, Germany were able to use their iPad to create a virtual, three-dimensional plan for their patient’s tricky procedure. They created a scan of the patient’s liver prior to surgery, then, when they opened their patient up, took a picture of the liver. They then used an app to overlay their surgery plan atop the pulsing, throbbing, doubtlessly squirting organ. The surgeons say that it allowed them to avoid potential complications by having the layout of the liver visible before surgery had even begun. It lead to a more efficient operation. And it’s not just good for livers, either: the team behind the app says it could also be used to remove tumors from other organs.

Skymouse Puts Mouse Control on Your Fingertips
The humble mouse remains a staple of most desktop setups, but there are an increasing number of devices looking to relegate the mouse to the bottom drawer. The latest is the Skymouse shifts cursor control from the desk to your fingertips.
Conceived by Los Angeles-based designer Eliott Ephrati, the SkyMouse was created to provide an accessible and ergonomic method of computer navigation. The gadget uses infrared lights and trackers along with advanced algorithms to allow you to control your computer. The Skymouse is plug and play and can recognize basic pre-programmed commands, such as left click, right click, middle click and scroll. However, a developer kit will also be offered that will allow "hackers and tinkerers" to create custom commands and gestures.
